The Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Canada, assigned a project to Knowledge Sharing and Innovation (KSI) on coordinating and assessing the effectiveness of mobile phone-based learning among rural communities of India using Learning through Interactive Voice Educational System (LIVES) http://www.iemt.ca/Demo.php. The objective is for studying the scope of LIVES vis-a-vis the interests of stakeholders such as rural masses, extension & development agencies, financial institutions and mobile phone service providers. The partners in this project are UAS-Raichur; and two NGOs Mann Desh, Mhaswad, Maharashtra; and VIDIYAL, Theni District, Tamil Nadu.
To initiate the activity under this project, KSI organized a one-day meeting on 10th October, 2011. The meeting was attended by participants from CRIDA (Hyderabad), University of Agricultural Sciences (Raichur), KVK-Mahabubnagar, VIDIYAL (Tamil Nadu) and Mann Deshi Foundation (Maharashtra). The activities to be handled by each partner and the timeframe was discussed and finalized during the meeting. The meeting convened by Dr N T Yaduraju and P Modi from ICRISAT was also attended by Kuntal De and Dr Tamizoli consultants to COL.
