A NAIP supported Consultation on Enhancing Open Access in Indian Agriculture: Prospects, Opportunities, Advantages and Challenges
Consultation on Enhancing Open Access in Indian Agriculture: Prospects, Opportunities, Advantages and Challenges” was hosted at ICRISAT from 6-7th September, 2009. This was supported by the NAIP.
Leading practitioner, researchers, educators and world renowned Open Access evangelists participated and deliberated in the two day workshop on the modalities of building Institutional Archives (IA). Dr. Stevan Harnad, Canada Research Chair in Cognitive Sciences at Université du Québec à Montréal joined via videophone to address the participants and enlightened them with some examples from the global leaders in education and research who have taken up to OA religiously.
Participants strongly believed that with the ever increasing reach of the Internet, the opportunity exists through modern harvesting techniques and search engines to discover publications that are deposited in an OA repository. Tagging with metadata standards makes this effort even more far fetching.
