Ontology for Agriculture

AGROVOC 

 

FAO's AGROVOC is being upgraded to an Ontology. Revision and refinement of almost 579,166 terms in 19 languages.The main objective of this revision is the conversion of agrovoc from a traditional term-based system into a semantically structured system,called the 'Agricultural ontology service/concept server' (AOS/CS) - Click here to read how ICRISAT is playing an important role in this  endeavor.

VASAT work featured on India's national television

ICRISAT uses a blend of ICT4D approaches to bring about the last mile connectivity. Videoconferencing, teleconferencing and face-to-face approaches are used to connect the rural families to agricultural researchers for agri-related advisories. Teaming up with ISRO and AMS (Adarsha Mahila Samaikhaya), this efforts has been successfully implemented in Adakkal mandal in Andhra Pradesh state in South central India. <Read More>
